Welcome Helen Elizabeth

It feels like its been a month since we went to the hospital last Wednesday night. I have so many pictures to sort through, but thought I'd start with a few and try to catch up later. Helen Elizabeth was born via c-section on March 17, 2011 at 3:10pm. She weighed 6lbs 5oz and was 18 inches long.
Big brother Charlie is already in love with baby Izzy.

So is Dad.

This was the first time I met baby Izzy after 9 long months of waiting. I was so relieved, happy and grateful to see our healthy baby girl.

So far she sleeps a lot...

I had the best, unexpected and unplanned Sunday with Charlie. Izzy had a busy social calendar (first grade girls do not mess around), Ryan was busy and Charlie and I found ourselves alone. What to do? Sundays are our catch-up days at home and our parental to-do list is usually long. I don't enjoy it, but it is the one day we go to the grocery store, do laundry, vacuum, run errands - all the stuff that has to get done around the house when both parents work all week. Most Sundays we encourage the kids to play outside, have a neighbor friend come over and basically entertain themselves. On Sundays, I say 'No' a lot. No, I don't have time to play. No, I can't throw the football. No, I can't play dolls or dress up. No, no, no. There just isn't enough time in the day, in the week, to get it all done. Izzy's rainbow party - behind the scenes

It's hard to focus on much besides Izzy's beautiful rainbow birthday cake...     But there were other aspects of the party that I really enjoyed as well.   I loved the idea of using baby food jars to decorate for Izzy's first birthday when I saw this post . In the interest of time and my waning energy, I decided to simplify this idea.
