Welcome Helen Elizabeth

Image
It feels like its been a month since we went to the hospital last Wednesday night. I have so many pictures to sort through, but thought I'd start with a few and try to catch up later. Helen Elizabeth was born via c-section on March 17, 2011 at 3:10pm. She weighed 6lbs 5oz and was 18 inches long. Big brother Charlie is already in love with baby Izzy. So is Dad. This was the first time I met baby Izzy after 9 long months of waiting. I was so relieved, happy and grateful to see our healthy baby girl. So far she sleeps a lot...

Mad Hatter

Charlie is really into wearing hats right now. Usually it is his KU baseball cap and he will wear it to school and keep it on all day. The last few days he has left the house with his bike helmet on. Turns out he keeps it on most of the day, too. He gets a few stares from other parents, probably wondering if he has a head injury.

Checking off the list

Still waiting for Baby Girl to arrive. She is taking her time. The good thing is we've had time to get through all the projects on our "pre-baby" list. One project has been in the works since before Charlie was born. Ryan disputes this, but I know it for a fact. How else would we have, in our right mind, undertaken a project that involved hundreds of small objects that can be chewed on and tossed about by small hands and that requires a large flat surface of undisturbed space (i.e. dining room table or kid-free zone on the floor). I am sure we started this in the winter of 08/09, pregnant with Charlie and with leisurely couple time on our hands. Ryan has been saving wine corks for a long time (we only used maybe half of the available corks) and each one was carefully selected and placed for this cork board. I think it was worth the wait. I'm all out of things to clean and organize in the house. I've re-organized all the upstairs closets to make room for baby, th...

Two weeks to go...

We're getting down to the wire. Baby girl is due two weeks from today. At one point I thought she was going to show up early, now I think she is going to hang on til the very end. Been feeling a little guilty that I haven't posted any bump pictures this time around. She deserves to be documented in utero just like Charlie was, so here goes... You make a very handy table these days, baby love. And no, I did not drink any of that wine, uh-huh. Here we are, baby and me. Oh yeah, she's in there. Running out of room! As we've been getting out the baby gear and getting things ready for round 2, Charlie has enjoyed revisiting all his old stuff. A good way to occupy Charlie these days is to put him at the kitchen sink and let him go crazy with some cups and water. It can be a little messy, but its only water after all. And we can use the extra minutes it buys us to get things done around the house. We've seen this face a lot lately, Mr. Grumpy. I think Charlie is becom...
